SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Empress

This image is from a new anime-themed set of original tarot cards I'm currently working on. This picture is the Empress, who repersents fertility, and the feminine forces of nature (okay, I'm over-simplifying things here, but I'm writing these descriptions in a hurry.) I drew her wearing clothing in the style of a Chinese Empress (because all other drawings I see of her have her drawn in a western/medieval style and I just wanted to be different). The era her clothing comes from is actually much later than the style of clothing the Emperor, her counterpart, is wearing, but I didn't think anyone would care, seeing as how pretty it is...

Also, can I have your permission to download these tarot cards to my pc? I don't want to USE them for anything, I just want to be able to look at them without tying up my family's phone line. (LOL) I really love your art! When are you going to update "the Slayers do Hamlet"? I'm waiting!

25 Dec 2004	Anonymous	Loading... ...and the designs are kinda unfamiliar to me as in the Chinese culture sense...yellow is good; gold=royalty. Tip about future drawings of emperors: golden dragons on clothing=emperor. No one else was allowed to have golden dragons on their clothing...I'm going to stop jabbering now...
25 Dec 2004	Anonymous	Loading... criticism; even though I really like it overall...It's just a fact that Chinese people don't really like to wear green; red is much more traditional...no offense meant...just trying to get people to better understand the Chinese culture...green, well...it's more like a, uh... "disgust" or "not a good thing" expression. Still, overall, LOVE IT!!!

21 Mar 2006	Lucifer	Loading... I would sudgest that next time you reserch the meanings of the cards befor doing the image. it might help you create a more meaningfull image. The Empress is suppose to show not only a great female power but the power of mother hood. The empress card should have some form of infant on it to pay tribute to this. but other than that it is amazing
