SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dragon #03Well, it's been a while since my last update, just because I haven't found the time to work on new drawings lately. But finally, I have finished a new picture! Two dueling dragons.
I tried to practice more on my contrast and working in color. I also tried using color to shade as well. Warm colors to highlight, and cool colors to fade into the background. Black was used to dull some of the colors out... And I also tried to blur the background a little by coloring it over using the white colored pencil.
Let me know what you think, aight? |

The purple dragon's wing/arm does look a bit odd though. The way you have the surrounding area shaded and have it positioned.. it makes it look like the wing/arm isn't attached right. Other than that though I think it's an amazing picture. I can't really see a blur effect going on in the back but the pic doesn't need it. Tim H. Nguyen replies: "I see what you mean. Ah, you can't expect every picture to come out perfect, heheh. It's the imperfections that are better attention getters than perfect pictures. Oh well. Thanx for the comment and critique, very much appreciated (^-^)!"
| 10 Sep 2005 | Nelleke Pieters | 0.0 woooooooooooooow... this is sooo beautiful!! Dangit I wish I could draw dragons like you do 0.0 The colouring is -again amazing, and the poses also are great... Don't want to pressure you, but still I hope you'll upload again soon ;P Tim H. Nguyen replies: "Thanx a lot for the comment, and sure I'll try to update again, whenever I get some new works going (and finished, heheh)." | |
| 10 Sep 2005 | Alexa 'Kuraime' Kroese | THIS SHOULD GET MODS CHOICE!! IT JUST HAS TO GET MODS CHOICE OR ELSE...I'LL FREAKIN' DIE!! The colors are sssoooo smooth! Its SSOOO BEAUTIFULL!!HEIL TIM H. NGUYEN! Tim H. Nguyen replies: "Heheh, I wouldn't take it to that extreme, but whatever you say... I know what you mean and I just hope it makes it there too. Thanx for the encouragement and comment (^-^)!" | |
| 15 Sep 2005 | Fowler | Nice Tim i hadn't checked the site in a while..i like the additions. Keep up the good work! Tim H. Nguyen replies: "Heheh. Thanx, Mr. Fowler. Hopefully, if I get some more time, I'll definitely make and post more." | |
| 16 Sep 2005 | Lise-Lott Humble | Wow, nice work!! ^___^ Really, I like the softness that you've made. (I'm bad at colouring with pencils, much simpular in the computer ^.~) Once again: very nice, I love the colours! ~Lisen~ Tim H. Nguyen replies: "I should practice coloring on the computer more often shouldn't I? Well, I find little time to do so nowadays, but hopefully some computer-colored works will be posted sometime in the near future, heheh. Thanx for the comment (^-^)!" | |
| 18 Sep 2005 | H. Tran aka 'Alyahn Darkelf' | dude, I meant staring at YOUR picture in awe, not the one I'm working on, lol! I'm not *that* arrogant. ^^;;; Tim H. Nguyen replies: "Yea, I knew that statement I made before didn't make any sense at all, heheh. I was referring to the comment about making something long lasting, but my response wasn't really clear about it...
Sorry if it caused some confusion there, but I guess staring at your own picture could be kinda strange (o_O)... Sometimes I find myself doing that (not really in awe though, more like "Huh? Does this look right?"), heheh."
| 18 Sep 2005 | H. Tran aka 'Alyahn Darkelf' | WOWZERS! It's kind of depressing how I am unable to express anything deep and lasting... I'm too busy staring at the picture in awe! Um... may I save this and use it as a wallpaper for my desktop? Pretty please? It's so good! Tim H. Nguyen replies: "Heheh. I guess it depends on the person... I usually get lost in thinking or drawing that I lose track of time and over work on a picture I did not intend to work on for so long. Hope that made sense at all, heheh. Sure thing, if you want to use it as your wallpaper, go right ahead. It'll be an honor really, heheh. Thanx a lot for the comment (^-^)!" | |
| 24 Feb 2006 | Marcus W. Ager | Hm, my money's on the big brown one ^^. Great work! Tim H. Nguyen replies: "Heheh, yea. That one's my favorite between the two. But the purple one looks fast, so it could be close... Thanx for the comment (^-^)!" | |
