SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Fellowship of the Ring

This was a long time in planning I had a lot of trouble in composing this many figures effectively and was very frustrated with repeated failure. However I am proud of this composition, but was too frustrated with it to develop it further or apply a color treatment. So here is my take on the fabled group hope you enjoy it, as allways comments of any kind are very welcome and wanted.

I agree, Boromir cannot be fat. Those nasty LOTR cartoons are horrible. As a soldier of Gondor, I daresay Boromir could not have survived if he was an overweight bear. He would have been very physically active and his musculature would reflect that very prominent aspect of his life.

Usually bigger implies bigger ie more muscular or simply bigger lol Bigger does not necessarily mean FAT for Boromir could have hardly journeyed for 3 months straight to Rivendell if he were FAT. He would have had a bloody heart attack. Also, I'm not going to go back and read the actual text for what was exactly said but Boromir was SIGNIFICANTLY YOUNGER than Aragorn so it can be construed that he was also pretty damn strong. Not fat. I love Boromir and resent him being fat. And ugly.

Boromir is too fat.
Gimli looks like a pig.
Legolas looks too frightened.
The hobbits look like human babies.
Gandalf and Aragorn are the only ones that looks neat.

Hey hey hey people! Go sit in a corner until you learn to accept other's interpretations of book characters! Honestly! Nearly half the comments on this picture have been incredibly rude and i am appalled! I think this picture is terrific. It's different from a lot of lotr pics around here (mainly because it obviously hasn't been inspired by the movies, which, i admit, i have become a little tired of). I congradulate the artist on a job well done! And to the rest of you who don't like different opinions- *points to chair in the corner of the room* go think about what you've said and stay there until you feel guilty enough to come back and apologize.

This pic is GREAT! You hear that, people-who-have-comments- about-stupid-little-things? This is a wonderful picture! If you think this and that or those are wrong, DEAL WITH IT!

Hang in there artist. Some of us are here for you.

:-) Dmitry Terner replies: "Brandi and others that liked this thing, thank you. You wil notice I have not updated this gallery in a long time and usually don't respond to comments, but I got two such nice ones in a row I had to say something. I think its funny how polarized people get about this stuff, I drew everything here way before the movies came out and have been dodling these characters since about 1991, I don't think I'm a great artist I am certainly not a pro, but I got the chracters across how I saw them at the time, I owuld probably have a different take on them now...the movie affected me as well, that is why I am actually happy I did these before. So again, thank you for liking my vision."

To all of you condemning the pic because of your own interpretations of the book: Everybody has an own opinion about a character in a book. And to those who claim Aragorn is older than Boromir: Aragorn is over a 100 years old and of the direct line of Numenor so Boromir is bound to look older. That said:
The picture on itself is really good. I like the feel of the picture.
