SciFi and Fantasy Art: Aqualonde

Ok, ok, so its not the real Aqualonde - apologies to the Tolkien lovers out there. I just love the name! Aqualonde is part of the Bifrost 'World of Water' project. While a mermaid is not the most original idea for this subject, I had just completed this painting as a gift for a friend and thought she may be appropriate to add. I used the 'Chux' technique on this one, which accounts for the strange textures you may pick up on her body, tail and hair.

I like this alot! I did the yin yang (two different types) but I really like this piece. I also like the texture effect. Great piece and great colors! I am partically colored blind so I do not see shading well or variations in colors. but yours are so bright that I can see more then one or two colors in it. Great job!

Ooo, lovely colours in this! The textured effect you mentioned works really well in her tail, like fish scales. My favourite part of this artwork however is her hair... it looks as if she's stopped swimming suddenly and her hair is billowing in front of her from the termination of velocity...erm, if that's the right term! Anyway, nice work!

What a beautiful use of colour! And the textures are really unique as well. Very well structured - a truly beautiful painting! You've done very, very well.

This is lovely. The colours are beautiful..soft and serene, it gives it an almost melancholy atmosphere. Gorgeous. By the way...what is the chux technique?

EXCELLENT use of colors here, and the texture behind the paint really adds to the effect on the 'tail'. I came walking by and look what I found! You are DEFINATELY improving quickly, keep up this pace and you'll be driving us outta site and home 12

Beautiful - and melancholy for some reason. There's definitely a story in her expression. Lovely use of colour.12
