SciFi and Fantasy Art: Spider of Doom

This is an idea I wanted to try, were the abdomen of the tarantula-like spider would be a skull. I think that if I could see the hair on a spider's legs I would leave.

I really like this picture. It has given me some interesting ideas for various things (computer games, video games, comics, and the like). I was wondering if you'd be okay with me using this idea, the spider w/skull abdomen, in the future. If you'd like, I can credit you as the artist that drew it, or as the inspiration for it should I happen to draw it myself. Of course, if I draw it, I will make minor changes here and there, for example, I'd probably draw a few variations of the spider, using different spiders as 'templates' of course (black widow, wolf spider, etc.) Okay, that's all. Btw, if you could email me with the answer, yes or no, can I use this image/idea?, that would be great. Later!

Such a crazy way to portray a spider but it fits, Really creative. I've been bit by spiders 6 times (i'm highly allergic) once I was bit by a black widow and I think they should look like this.

geez, a few of the comments for this pic are harsh!!! DW, i reckon its heaps mad...ur idea or not...many artists are inspired by other pieces...if ppl weren't inspired by the new ideas of their time we wouldn't have some of our greatest artists in human history!!! oh well, i like ur pic cos i like spiders (not that i'd want to touch one or anything, i just like the concept of spiders) very useful creatures they are...

This is very good. Good concept, technically well done, and plus, spiders are cool.

You should delete those really long messages, or at least add spaces to them, they make the page, as well as reading the comments, really nasty.

There is actualy a real spider that looks somewhat like that. Less Tarantula Like and far smaller. Its about the size of a pinky nail.

That is freakin' awesome. There are just not enough spiders and arthropods in general in Elfwood.

One miniscule criticism: having the eyes in the top of the cephalothorax (head) as you've put them wouldn't be too useful to the spider, as it wouldn't be able to see in front of it. On the other hand, it would have potential predators in its direct line of sight ...
