SciFi and Fantasy Art: Painful Transformation

Did you ever wonder exactly how much it must hurt for a mermaid to split her fin into two human legs? Here I was trying to get a metallic effect on the tail, but I don't think it worked...

Is it just me noticing this or what?: What happened to her cheeks? They seem a tad deformed... otherwise wonderful work! Good job! Keep it up. I also like your shading and texturing technique. The three dimensionalness is nice. Well, as someone famous I don't remember once said: "There are absoulutely no restrictions in art- Never stop drawing or painting or whatever. Just do what you love best." Okay, I think I made that up, but oh well. *rubs temples.is very tired.*
