| 27 Oct 2006 | Anonymous | hi, i had a question and I was wondering if you could help me out..I went on your website and I was really impressed with the red-colored butterfly you had made using liquid sculpey. I have recently bought some liquid sculpey and I am wondering if when you bake it, it already has that shimmery mother-of-pearl look to it, or do I have to add tint? Anyway sorry for the long comment but i love your art, especially your unicorns : ) great gallery. Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "Hi! Thanks for your interest and lovely compliments! I made the butterflies using liquid Fimo, which is actually clearer and shinier than liquid Sculpey. Liquid Sculpey looks milkier and more matte. Also, I think a lot of the mother-of-pearl look comes from the iridescence of the Fantasy Film that the liquid Fimo is on. It's great stuff; you should play with it! (You can get it at Joggles.com or on eBay.) One of these days I will do a tutorial on those butterflies, I think." | |
