| 18 Jul 2005 | Kristina D. Beaton | He looks better then the real horse in the movie ^_^ Tips? Not that you need it: But I believe a fellow used a bit of water with his pencils, though they weren't water color. It made it smooth out: not sure how he does it. I'll have to try it myself. But if you do try it, (if you don't already know how) I'd test it on paper you don't want to use. I think he just colors it and when he wants to blend it he just uses a very small amount of water, maybe even just put some on a thin paint brush or your finger and do the rest ^_^ Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "Thanks; I may have to try that. I wonder if mineral oil would work too... although the paper might not like that. Watercolor paper should be okay, though." | |
| 16 Oct 2005 | Sara Ann DeVoe | oh my god! I can barely believe another human being could draw so well! This Is BEAUTIFUL! Its so great you have a wonderful talent! Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "*blushing* Thank you Sara! You are too kind. I'm glad you like it!" | |
| 2 Sep 2006 | Michelle Tolo | Whoa, that's a beautiful picture! You've really captured the sense of speed in this one, and the colours fit very well I love Shadowfax, LOTR wouldn't have been the same without him. -Michelle Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "I agree! He's like a main character, isn't he? No speaking parts though. Thank you for commenting!" | |
| 23 Feb 2007 | Clarion H. Hess | This is great!! One of the best horses I've seen in a long time. Absolutely beautiful with great proportions. One thing: you've got the horse down, maybe you could work on expression. He kind of just looks like he's standing (or rather cantering)there. Give him a purpose, a reason for being/doing what he's doing that doesn't require an explanation. Or something that we could make our own story up to. Play with his ears, the tilt of his head. Anyway, It is awesome, I love it and thanks for the compliment!! I like my name too! =) Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "Thank you, Clarion! I agree, I could use a lot of improvement in expressions. In spite of the fact that I've drawn horses all my life, anything but the profile is difficult for me to capture in a drawing. That's one reason I prefer sculpting! I can do all three dimensions. (And I've only been sculpting for a few years. Odd, isn't it?)" | |
