I mean, aether (also spelled ether - but I think of that as an anaesthetic) was an ancient idea of the substance between stars (similar to the old belief that heat was a substance called caloric). Don't you think that's a good name? No?
Of course, those same ancient scientists believed the sun went around the Earth and that lead could be changed into gold...
