I tried experimenting with fur texture and light direction; didn't seem to work out very well in the end. No layers used. Took me around two hours from start to finish.

My favorite part about this pic is how you made it go from fluffy and soft-looking at the top, to scruffy and rough-looking at the middle, to sketchy at the bottom! I attempted that with pencil, but I stunk. I can't even imagine how you did it digitally!
