SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dark Mother

The Dark Mother is part of a series of pictures I made of the Archetypal Triple Goddess. She was modeled after Shiva and Kali-Ma and has a waning cresent moon inscribed on Her brow. She dances on a primeval chaos dragon, channeling the forces of lightning to do Her will as a testimony of Her awesome power. She wears tattered clothing dyed with blood for She embodies the powers of destruction and death. But though Her visage may seem fearful, one must remember that She is also the keeper of wisdom, justice, and the highest mysteries, for She dances the dance of renewal and rebirth from the old. This is drawn in markers and pencil.

29 Aug 2003	Kat	Loading... jaw drops to the floor WOW!!!! picks jaw up I made a comment on your "Isis and Osiris" piece that I was amazed that you remembered the legend behind the two, but the fact that you know of Shiva and Kali-ma kind of makes me wonder something else is inspireing your art work. I'll email you about it. But anyway, TO THE ART WORK! I love the way you portrayed the Dark Mother. Very well done! The dragon of chaos is a nice touch too! wink
