You really have some talent James. In your bio I read that you have never taken art classes and I see that as a travesty, combining your talent with some training in technique, and you would greatly improve. Take it from me I learned allot. The areas I see that you need to emphasize more are shading: you need to use more mid tones, and a darker pencil like a 6b. And your proportion, your images seem to be a bit flat and that comes from not using different perspectives, and too little foreshortening/vanishing. All of which you would learn in a class. The good far outweighs the bad however, and your creativity is very high, keep on drawing man.

Hmmm..I am not really a fan of babarians but seeing your art really makes me a bit more interested in them. They are really babaric!!

(might wanna visit my site? It isn't in your style but it would be nice if you just checked it out)

Hey James 1. I saw your comment on my message board and dropped by to catch up on ya (as I do anyway, periodically). You have a few new pieces up too, I see, and well done ones. I'd hate to see your art pushed to the back burner. In way of suggestions, you have awesome characters that would be even more awesome with more dramatic lighting. Specifically, in the rogue picture (that climbing thief one), it's hard to get a sense where the light is and isn't and that's what anchors pieces of something together. GREAT concepts as always.

AAh. a kindred spirit. I also, took but one art class during high school. finding job opportunities that are artisitically driven indeed. But don't give on your art, sometimes its the only thing that helps us retain our sanity. Good luck.
P.s. I thoroughly enjoyed your gallery.
