SciFi and Fantasy Art: Nature goddess

My main inspriration came from paintings of the rennaissance and Da Vinci. I love the tiny backgrounds you see in many of the portrait paintings from back then. The minuteness adds a surreal quality to the much larger figure in the foreground.

Wow, she's lovely. Am I the only one who thinks the scene and the lady's mysterious smile bears an ever so slight resemblance to the Mona Lisa?!
Well, knowing me, I probably am.
The shading is brilliant, it looks very lifelike. I love her circlet of leaves... And the background.... and her HANDS, how did you learn to draw hands like that?!
I can't understand why there are so little comments for this picture...

:-) Laura Denise Galiffe replies: "*thanks! actually i did use leonardo da vinci as my main source of inspiration but only for the background and format. i didn't really think about the mona lisa until you mentioned it. "

This is breath-taking! The tilt of the head, the curve of the form, the hands....and the background really helps. I love thsoe kinds of backgrounds, where it looks likt the subject is either floating above them or just hanging over. It's almost like you're falling into the world of the picture...and this picture has a lot to fall into. Go mhaith!

Hmmm, nature goddess, rose, mysterious smile, subtle shading... Da Vinci would be proud. If only there was an M hidden somewhere... Anyway, it's pretty. My only advice would be to fade the outline of the mountains a bit so it's more realistic. Oh, and read Davinci's Code.

All i can say is wow. Very nice, everything about it is beautiful! So unique, how did you think of the garland? That was a nice touch. Hands were amazing as usual.

Very DaVinci-ish, a lot like his Mona Lisa. I congraulate you, not many can capture DaVinci so well. Well done.
