I think it is best to keep the body one color on mermaids. Separating the human half from the fish(or whale) half doesn't make much sense to me, it looks unnatural.
Sharks... I just saw some the other day. I guess this mermaid has an angular shark-like feel, but I'd look at a photo of a real shark to get the fin anatomy right (They usually have 8 of them). She'd make an awesome thresher shark mermaid(Their tails are longer than their bodies.) | |
