SciFi and Fantasy Art: Feanoreans--family picture

A re-run of an old old pic I must've drawn around ten years ago... and another one of those 'missing scenes' from the Silmarillion.

Take a peek into the house of Feanor when the Noldor still lived in Valinor... I imagine it must have been rather lively at times. Nerdanel, pregnant with Curufin, spots trouble brewing between Caranthir and Celegorm (who seems to have always been rather protective of his dog), Maedhros has just given up concentrating on writing a letter, Maglor demonstrates that poets and artists are always able to retreat into a world completely of their own during the creative process, and Feanor looks in from the smithies and shouts for some quiet.

Watercolour and Photoshop.

Yes! We need more "behind the scenes" moments for the Silmarillion. Great picture! Maglor is so oblivious, I love it. He's completely zoned out.
Celegorm does look positively evil, though. I sure hope that is a stuffed animal, or Huan is going to meet his fate a tad early, with a broken neck! Orome should not entrust his hounds to little kids.

:-) Jenny Dolfen replies: "Of course that's a stuffed animal. 12 Celegorm was apparently already very... fond of dogs."

Hi! I just joined Elfwood and you are definately the one who convinced me to as well as to read The Dark Elf Trilogy (lovin' it!) I totally love your work especially on the Silmarillion. Your portrayal of the carictors has really helped me to immagine them as different people when I read the Silmarillion (again), before I just thought of them as the collective "Sons of Feanor" and not exactly as quite different people. One thing though and I know you hate it when people ask about hair colour but in one of you other pics Celegorm has fair hair and in this one he has dark hair.

Wow, what an amazing piece of art! The gang's all here... so to speak. Well, all my favorite characters at least. Can't get enough of those Feanorians. I could stare at this for hours. The personalities are so CLEARLY presented here. And it's just plain beautiful to look upon. Off to devour the rest of your gallery now...

That is insanely funny. And I love Maglor- I've always thought of him as being sort of absentminded, and he looks PERFECT! Curse you for being such an awesome artist!

Reminds me of my boyfriend's family. He's got two younger brothers and every time I'm at his house it's exactly like this. Which makes me love this picture even more because it seems very real (Makes you wonder what they were thinking having all those boys. Beautiful job on the expressions and the hair!

maybe I commented before on this picture im not sure... anyway I think Celegorm’s face is a little too angular for my liking. I really think Formentos must have gotten ’lively’ sometimes...

Beautiful picture, and really funny! I love how it shows the family as being quite a normal family, including fights and chaos at times 10 I really like the face expressions; the colours and shading are also really good.
