SciFi and Fantasy Art: Nirnaeth Arnoediad

-- Unnumbered Tears

'Thus fell the High King of the Noldor; and they beat him into the dust with their maces, and his banner, blue and silver, they trod into the mire of his blood.'

JRR Tolkien, The Silmarillion, Chapter 20: 'Of the Fifth Battle-Nirnaeth Arnoediad'

I was on a murdered people tour at elf wood and i saw yours, it's just touching

the young have dreams but they are too eager
the beautiful are not just vain, they have a heart

don't hate them

That has got to be one of the loveliest and at the sime time the saddest picture I've ever seen of Tolkien's work. Well done, Jenny, and keep it up!

Few people, it seems, have the time or will to read the rest of Tolkien's legendarium, and fewer still are able to remember the highlights. The Nirnaeth Arnoediad is as heartbreaking and poetic as any other mythological war, and would top them all if it were real. The Trojan War has nothing on this. Thanks for taking the time to depict so many details of Tolkien's world that are overlooked by others. Your watercolors are even somewhat reminiscent of Tolkien's own, albeit you have a much more practiced hand.

Very well done.

It’s not fingolfin, because he’s the guy who is crushed by Morogoth, is’nt he?
