SciFi and Fantasy Art: Bast the Cat Goddess

Bast is one of my favorite egyptian goddesses. I have always been an admiror of feline females. They are so sensual...yet mysterious...and oh so flexible. I envisioned her as being very sleek and agile, with the same know-it-all type of expression I have seen in my own cats.

I love this picture. You have a great gallery

Great picture, really unusual take on Bast - probably because Sekhmet was the feline goddess with the scorching temper. Both of them were sun goddesses but Sekhmet was there first (oh, media niche already filled, priests have excess goddess on their hands, what do they do?), so eventually they came to represent different aspects of the sun - Bast the cat-headed, gentle, loving, beneficient; and Sekhmet the lioness-headed, fiery, destructive, scorching - pretty much like competetive advertising. But I'll stop showing off. My point is, this reminds me more of Sekhmet than Bast. Keep it up - Draw more Sekhmets!

It's cool. I think that you went a little far on the details though!

Okay, Bast; my area of expertise. Excuse me if I get a little harsh here, I just become very passionate about Her.

Bad things:

1.) Her face looks male-humanoid. You need to give Her a cat's head.

2.) Add more detail to both the backround and Her Body.

3.) She sometimes has a tail, you don't need to add it but it would look better.

4.) Her Shins WAY too skiny.

5.) Her legs in general look bad.

6.) Have Her holding an Ankh or a Musical Instrument with a Cat shape or figurine on it.

Neutral Comments:

7.) It's okay, color it, make her hair better, take care of the above and it'll look like one of the best Bast pictures!

Can't wait to see a better version from you.

TRUELY SORRY IF ANY OF THIS WAS OFFENSIVE!!

Like I said... I get passionate...

How on earth...???

LoL. (^_^)

Generally the pic is great (rather... umm, somewhat sinister-looking to me), but to add The Dark Huntress's list of constructive criticism:
**Now it's her clothes I'm talking about. That "net" dress is supposed to be wore by prostitutes, definitely not by goddesses!!!

That's all, and... good day to you. Pardon me if you find this kinda offensive or something.

Yes, bast is a powerful goddess but she is also the goddess of joy. You make her look almost evil

How dare you make a mockery of Bast!

You impatient fool!
How could you portray me as such a foul goddess!
I wouldn't even dare portray Sekhmet so foul!
But you do as you wish for remember the goddesses never die we just sleep, and we can be as you wish us to be but remember be careful what you wish for!

I think that this picture is actually very nice. The details are very expressive. For those of you who are somehow offended by this picture, or think that it does not portray Her properly, please do remember that even the nicest of people have a temper. It looks to me like someone made Her pissed off!!! I think that this picture gives a nice, refreshing perspective on Bast(et). Besides, all of the sweet pictures were getting old anyway!!

Very nice Mr. Greenwood, very well done. I would like to see this colored as well, I think that it would be interesting to see what colors you think best represent Her.
