SciFi and Fantasy Art: Vardgûhl

This is a cleric I play in D&D. He roams Amsentia (our home-made world) in his denial. He was taken as a child by a sick cult, and blinded and then taught in the ways of Varana, the female bringer of death, servant of Mortucrôlob the god of Death. Living in this way for years, slowly succumbing to the cults evil ways, he grew strong and acute to his surrounding and found happiness and beauty in death alone. His life was about to change though, as the land was ravaged by plague. None but himself surived in the ruined monestary, and alone he walked into the world he had missed so long. Derived of everything he stumbled back to where he knew his parrents must have lived, finding in the ashes and burned bodies an old mask, that reminded him of his childhood. Now he travels the road of his goddess, wearing that mask, hiding his childhood from himself - a chaotic essence, quick to deal out death to any who oppse him in any way. This is Vardgûhl.

Hmmm...a cleric? Gee, he must be a chaotic evil one...or wait, did he go from good to evil? I'm confused. Mebbe its because I've never had to DM for a cleric character...
...oh well...
Great pic you have there. Very grim. Keep it up!

There's one thing i do not understan... Is the spikey thing going THROUGH his head, or is it just neatly placed there like one of those lame freaky halloween headbands you can buy at the dollar store? I absolutely love the shading on this picture! And nice background. I am horrible at backgrounds!

:-) Marcus Gronbech replies: "The mask has the typical carnival headband attached. Indeed it is a mask from his childhood, the only thing that survived after a gruop of renegade clerics lay waste to his hometown, stealing Vardguhl away and training him in their ways, brainwashing him with their dark and perverted ways."
