SciFi and Fantasy Art: Cassandra's End?

Cassandra clutched at the arrow shaft, mustering the strength to break it. Precious seconds slipped by, precious blood pumped hotly over her fingers. She recalled an image from her childhood, that of a grotesquely beautiful collection of butterflies impaled by pins to their mounts. She would have laughed aloud at the irony if the approaching assassin hadn’t done so first...

This is mainly ink and Crayola markers. The ground and background were putzed with using Micrografx Picture Publisher 7. I was attempting a moonlit look to the scene, which is why her flesh is so grey.)

This is a really great pic, but what I have to say is to the person at the top of the comments list saying that a little arrow like that wouldn't pin someone to a tree. Have you ever had an arrow through you side? I have, trust me, it's not the arrow pinning her down, it's her not wanting to move the thing inside her.

About the comment on how it wouldnt pin her to the tree, who issaying its not a bolt from a crossbow, and that the tree is made of balsa wood, or that her insides have already been pre-liquified by some kind of ebola or that the arrow was now diamond/razor tipped, or coated with acid that just slices through anything? =) it is fantasy you know

This is a great pic..And if she does die in some stories thats the best part (morbid I know) but you get so much emotion from that.

About the arrow: the arrow could pin you to the tree, especially if it's from a long bow fired at short range (50 feet or below). Arrows pack more punch than crossbows, they just require more skill and training to use.

*grins* I second the above arrow comment, I have seen a deer pinned to a tree by a broad head arrow, and deer are thicker than elves.

I really like this picture, her proportions are so elfie, and I'm glad she isn't overly chestie like to many girls are drawn. There is some thing about the lay of her tunic that looks very natural.

I've never seen Crayola markers look so wonderful! Great job!

Wow, I like this a lot, especially the details on the tree and her pose. Her hair is cool, different from the commonly seen stright hair

Looks like an intestine shot...she'd probably bleed to death in reality.

Of course, in a fantasy world, the wound could be instantly healed by a cleric who just happened to be nearby.

Aww, come on! Assassins aren't all THAT bad... well, mine isn't. Maybe that's because he sneaks kittens away from chefs and sings 'In the Jungle' while chained to a horse. BEAUTIFUL backgroundish thing, and do we meet this assassin?
