SciFi and Fantasy Art: Aiimus

Aiimus, modeled after third century BC Greek arms and armor, is the protector of a sacred temple. He is charged with guarding the 'Chalice of the Angels' from any threat or damage. While he is an excellent guardsman, he is occasionally overzealous, and once drove back an envoy of priests who had come simply to see the chalice for themselves.

I did a fair amount of research for the sword and armor in this image. The greaves, shield and sword were all very Greek, but the chestpiece is borrowed from southern Spain, and around the same time period. Aiimus is a stoat, at least in the summer, for as you know, in the winter months their fur changes color to white, making him an ermine. He definitely prefers his summer colors better.

This is so cool. I absolutely love him. His armour, his expression. He just seems slightly...put out. But in a disinterested sort of way. It's nice. I offer thee cheesewheels and good tidings. Anthros rock.I'll hopefully be able to put up the story he is from in the Wyvern's Library soon. He started out as a bad guy, but just looked too noble in the original sketch. So, I did this one to figure out what he really looked like.

Only one comment. I love the cape, I want one. His expression is awsome, it feels like he's looking right at me, but he looks so sad. Why is he sad? Anyway, would you draw him in his winter coat? He's not sad, I don't think. And, I will eventually draw him with his winter coat, but I've got some more summer coat ones to go through first.

- MidnightI'm glad you like Aiimus, here. Hopefully I'll have a few more of him soon, including a fight scene between him and N'duk 9it's all a big misunderstanding). I really haven't done much Redwall art, though I do admit that the series had a great impact on me, and I have a deep respect and admiration for Brian Jacques.

I wish I could draw like you!!!Everyone can draw, it just takes a lot of practice and observcation, as well as about a dump-truck full of failed attempts and scrap drawings. The key is just to keep at it.

Wonderful picture ^_^. The research you did for the armor really shows through in all the detail and overall flow of the clothes. Nice job ^_^There's going to be a new version of him coming soon, I hope.
