SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dock Worker

So little is the common worker noticed. Actually, that's not why I made this picture, I wanted to draw that shirt, and everythign else jsut came along with it. The rain effect was one of my most time consuming yet, as thart I ahd to do all the little droplet spashes and the random rainwater trails and whatnot; not to mention making his fur look wet! But I just love how ti came out.
br<> An autumn storm has rolled in from off the coast and this worker is working like mad to get his crates unloaded before the ship is forced to leave port. I had a lot of fun with the ocean and the sky, and his fur. Let me know what you think.

Very nice, looks like it took a lot of time to get all the wetness details in. My only complaint is that the rain itself seems to be a little flat. The land in the distance would probably be very hard to see because there's rain here, rain there, and rain in between to block the light. After 25 hours of work, and 87 layers, I just let it be as is. And, it isn't raining far off in the distance there.

That rain is perfect!I'm glad you think so, though I've figured otu how to make better rain, now... I'll have to try another downpour picture sometime soon.

This is such an awesome picture!! The rain looks wicked good (can you tell im from new england??) well not just the rain but everything looks good~ the only thing that i could say that would improve the picture would be that you know how when rain hits objects it looks like they have a kind of halo about them? That could possibly be added around the crate and the guy or just a suggestion for next time you do a rain pic. (hope i didnt offend^-^)There actually is one there, and it shows in the print, but it didn't show up when I shrunk the image size to fit in the required space here.

Wow, the water effect is amazing, and the way you made everyting look wet is just well spectacular. Work paide off for you on this piece. If anybody is wondering how I made the rain, check out www.polykarbon.com and look at the Photoshop tutorials. All the water drips and splashes and trails were done by hand, though.

COMPLAINT!!!! The anubites and jackals were only protecters of the egyptians not slaves or workers.IDIOT! That's not an aubite or a jackal! Look at the face, the ears, the tail! And maybe read the description, Captain Moron, he's a mongoose! And whoever said that I had to follow a set of rules that has been re-interpreted to say what we want them to now? I make my own rules.

The main guy character in "Princess Mononoke" has that same shirt.... O.oThat's because it's Japanese. Watch the classic Akiro Kurosawa movies "Yojimbo" or "Sanjuro" and you'll see them there, too. Actually, you should watch them for any reason, they're great.

You can feel the rain.Yep, especially here in the Northwest. You can feel it almost every day.

Heheh...Yojimbo indeed! Need to find that so I can watch it once more sometime...

Again, the painstaking work you put into the water effect really paid off. I do think the sea should be darker; it draws a lot of attention to itself. And the shirt turned out nice, too xDThere's a lot of issues I have with this piece now. It was really cool and fun back when I did it, but it needs an update, I think
