SciFi and Fantasy Art: Maensk in the ForestMaensk, Rastivar's fated enemy, takes a stroll through a sunlit forest. The scar on his face was given to him by the golden cat some years ago, and he still seeks revenge. Maensk is a gray fox, has a nasty temper, and is becoming consumed by his lust for revenge, and the final duel between himself and Rastivar. IT was a new trick trying to blend the light and shadows to make him appear to actually be under the shade of the boughsreen, but I really like the results. Let me know if you do, too. Maensk is the property of Andrew Kibelbek, drawn and colored with permission, of course. | |
 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 8 Nov 2003 | CArtoon a roonie | IS IT JUST ME or does he bear a stricking resmblence to Balto the dog from the movie of the same name ?I own the movie. Trust me, it's just you. There's nothing even remotely like Balto in Maensk. | |
| 3 Jan 2004 | Robert T. Argue | Nice. I use photoshop, but I'm... not that great. Any tips? Anywhay, you sure got a collection of Mod's choice badges dont you? I bet if you tried to, you could get a gallery full of Mod's choices. Keep up the good work!Eh, three Mods Choices is all I have. And I wasn't expecting to get that third one, either. I wouldn't want a gallery full of them; then I'd never get to see some other people's great work on the main screen as often. | |
| 3 Jan 2004 | Madalaine McCabe | wow! I like this a lot well done!Thanks, he's still a personal favorite of mine. | |
| 4 Jan 2004 | Robert T. Argue | 3 is a collection. I mean, how many people do you know with one. Anywhay, Nice job on the shadows, but it is a little easier to see that its like a forest shadowing from the thumbnail. I dont know if this is what you wanted, but i just wanted to point it outYeah, the thumbnails always distort them a little. I still need to update this one because I've color-corrected some things. | |
| 4 Jan 2004 | Andy Davis'Rat Hacker' | How did you do the scar? I mean color it, it is so cool! The fur is nice to, How did you do it? I just want to know so I could hopefully do a picture of me and I have a scar across my face. So I would really appriciate it if you could give me some tutorials on it.The scar was a swath of pink that I painstakingly smudged into place, and then used the dodge and burn tools on it to give it depth and shine. Then I added some more colors to make it look natural. The fur texture is my little secret, though. | |
| 11 Jan 2004 | Bunny | I hate to say it but he kinda does look like Balto. Very good thoNo, he doesn't. He's not got the yellow-brown eyes, or the goofy fur tuft on the bridge of the nose. Eyes are different shape, ears are different shape, expression is quite different. I own Balto, and Maensk doesn't resemble him. | |
| 26 Jun 2004 | Monkey | It's not Balto. This is really cool. It TOTALLY deserved mods. Congreats. Even though it was a long time ago. This is really cool!!I suppose I should actually finish this one sometime in the near future... | |
| 17 Sep 2006 | Shelz Keast | I think you did really well with the shading and play of light.I keep meaning to use that trick again, but I never do... | |
