SciFi and Fantasy Art: Jump and Shoot Sakai

In addition to beign a young master of the sword, Sakai Jironato is also a great show with his longbow. This is a scene from my story when he leaps back off a low rooftop while shooting off a snap shot before landing in a deep drift of snow. Should be rather chilly since he's just wearing his long fungdoshi (underwear) and his trousers. Sakai is a gray fox.

This is freakin' awesome. I wish I could do that when I shoot. He looks so... uh... Alive. You wish you could jump into a snowbank in your underwear when you shoot? Ooookay, vhatever floatsen das boot... But, seriously, thank you. I've been on a bit of an inking spree as of late, so, this one might show up in finished ink form soon.

Heh heh, makes one feel alive... No what I meant was being able to shoot and jump at the same time. You've got the release point for his right hand/paw in the correct location which is rarely done. I can't wait to see this one inked.Actually, I don't think this one will ever be inked. Though I did go on a bit of an Inking spree a little while ago, Sakai just does not fit well with inks, and my hands are not still enough to get the fine detail I need. I believe I will just be focusing on geting my pencils to a cleaner stange before coloring him.

Jeez, this is an awesome pose! And because I'm also a sucker for Japanese weaponry I just had to leave a comment here!I'm a bit of a sucker myself, so I understand quite perfectly.

All I can say is Great line of action!! 0.0

Okay, I can say some more, actually...
Nice anatomy, great research, good scene setup, characterization, energy – to put it in fewer words, I like it a lot!! ^.^

My research consisted of being laid up in a hospital with a book on Samurai. Helpful book, that one. And, could somebody tell me what <3 means? I still don't get that one.

This pic is very well made. Though it could use some color. Over all, a job well done.It will see color, eventually.

Dude, woah.... what more is there to say, I never realized that anthropormorphs could be carried off in this way. You should definitley be drawing for a major comic, I'd love to see some of this stuff go mainstream. The expression on his face is dead calm and professional, geez i wish i could draw like thatI started drawing "furry" back before I knew there was such a subculture in art, and I've tried to stay true to my original intentions of having the character matter before the look of the character. Each of my drawings of furries and anthros are based on the life and feelings of that particular character, so it makes it a lot easier to have that come across in the final image.

I actually have one short comic finished (sans coloring) and I ahve plans for a few full-length issues in the near future, once I get time. Also, I've got a book in the works with my friend Andrew, as well as some other side projects going on. So, you just might see me mainstream sometime soon. Also, anybody can draw, it jsut takes a LOT of practice, and getting over a lot of dry spells, or times where nothing comes our right.

THis is awsome, gosh he looks so calm, but didnt' you say he was a prodegy, how long has he been practicing? I can't even hit a big target!!! I feel sorry for the next person who looks at him funny! But, that's where self-diseplene comes in, right? Ah well, awsome pic!!!!Sakai is a prodigy with the sword, but all samurai also trained in the bow and the spear. The sword was used as a last weapon, because the other two could keep yo further from your opponent. Seeing as archery is a greatly admired skill, he practiced it a lot as well.
