SciFi and Fantasy Art: Summer Daze

After his time with Mikheil as a squire, Roderick became a knight of his own. Only problem was that he had nobody to serve. So, he took to roaming wherever he felt like, getting odd jobs and serving where he could. But he could never shake the simple, relaxing life he once lived as a boy, and the summer months got to him worse than anything else. Here we find him lying back in a wheatfield, without a care in the world.

Aw, he's beautiful! You really captured a great casual air in this. Makes me want to go lie in a wheat field! ^^ As a side note, it's incredible to see how much your work has improved since you started this gallery. I love seeing that! Thank you for sharing this with everyone! For the past year I've been trying to do something new in each picture, and been pushing myself to learn new things. I'm glad it's paying off now, because I can finally draw and color my characters how I've wanted to for years.

I think I've commented in most of the pictures you've made of this character o_O I adore him and the way you draw him *Nods* I love the way you've drawn the field ^^; ... and do excuse me for posting so much. You just have me in awe here.Heh, most of the field actually wasn't drawn at all, but simply colored in.

It reminds me of my relaxation hour back at the farm I worked at. Nice job!!!!I always love it when I can bring about a real memory or emotion in people with my art.

Waist up and background is very good. Waist down would need a bit more shading especially around waist, the left leg and the tail (eg leg casts some shadow on tail) to give some depth (knee is higher and more illuminated, shin is more in shadow) to the pose.

It does tell the story you intended regardless. The face is very reflective.Eh, perhaps, but considering that the light is generally coming from above, it's not too far off.

I think you should start a comic strip....thing or a movie or something cuz your goooooooooooood!!!!!!!!Well, I am planning a webcomic featuring another character, but that's a bit delayed now.

Me again! I do have to agree with the shading thing though, the knee bended looks a bit like he's holding it in the air, not lying there, and the tail, the lines are a lot bolder in the top half. This isnt really critiscism, I love this painting. I dont think it could get much better =D.I hadn't done a pose like that before, so it was a bit of a trick.

Ha ha, I'd hire him. He could dust my dungeon in a pinny and not much else =P (yes yes, not exactly knightly duties, but, eh... Eesh I'm a pervert.) I love him. Really do. All the straw mustve taken aaaaaaaaages O__O. Love his clothes, again, said that a hundred times now.Hmm, I'm sorry, I don't know what a pinny is, actually. His clothes changed as he came into his own, no longer a squire. The red shirt was a gift from his master.
