SciFi and Fantasy Art: Galatea (acrylic painting)

I had this large canvas (2 feet by 4 feet) that I didn't know what to do with. So I decided to try to paint my picture of Galatea. I think this is one of my better pictures, even though the camera I used didn't capture it that well.

So original and beautiful. I love how her body is turned into a sculpture at the bottom. I did not expect that, because before I scrolled down I thought she was some strange breed of elf with white markings... This is brilliant. Congrats!

She's nice, but there's something wrong with her face...

I adore traditional art, so THANK YOU for doing this lovely painting! I, for one, appreciate how difficult it is, and what an accomplishment this painting is.

Wow, see, she's really coming alive!
I've got that feeling. Great work.

I love that myth! It's so nice that in the end the sculptor lived happily ever after. Lovely picture.

This is a really good picture, You're very skilled with acrylic colors, and you obviously know a lot more about anatomy than I do 2 But still, I have some things that I think you could think of. Firstly her hair, it lies a bit too flat on her head, it seems like someone's painted it on her, and while that has a natural explanation (...) I think it would look more real if it had some more volume. Secondly, you could make some faint shadows on her teeth so that you can see them better, but I know that that's a hard thing to do without ending up with a rabbit... 2 Well, I hope you're not offended, because I didn't mean to be as irritating as this 2 Keep up the good work! Oh, and by the way, I like the idea very much.

11 Guy Swalling replies: "Thank you for your comments. It has taken a lot of practice to get as comfortable with the human body as I am, and will take more. The hair is something I have been working on. The teeth do have some shading that the photo didn't pick up, although I still don't think its quite enough. And why would I be offended for you constructive criticism. That’s why I post here in the first place."
