SciFi and Fantasy Art: The sleepers

Done for a class. Was suposed to be dream images, but the teacher didn't like my first consept. (or second, or third, or...) After days of fighting her she allowed me to do this one. The frustration of it affected my work so I hope to go back and improve this at some time. Acrylic. Sorry for the bad scan.

Incredable! I wish I could have seen the other ideas, If this is bad I never want to see good. I'd probably think it was a photo.

Who would someone, especially a teacher, tell an artist what to create? One should always create what they feel they should. I really like this piece, the concept is very origional.

Cool, they look small cuz of the bricks and huge, going off into the background, at the same time... very nice.

Beautiful. I love the depiction of the sand dune people together. Artists should never censor other artist's ideas.

Guaah Art teacher's! When will they learn to keep their noses out. I sympathise with you because I've had some shockers in the past. This image is so strange and peaceful, it reminds me of the nazca lines and other geoglyphs in South America. I really love the purple you chose for the mtns and the way it works with the rest of the colours. The only thing I dont get is that, wall? Oh well whatever it is it looks cool. This is an original and emotionally charged piece, I don't know haw your teacher could not love it.

29 Guy Swalling replies: "If you were to analyze the picture you could say that the wall represents a separation of the artist/viewer form the intimacy being portrayed. However I just thought that it seemed a little plain so I added the wall."
