SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lauriana - in 3D

Note the anime influence here. ^_^ Lauriana was born into a very poor family, and ran away from home at a young age to join some pickpockets. She became quite skilled at thievery, but also at slight of hand 'magic' tricks. At the age of 16, she got caught stealing, but managed to slip away from the authorities to the saftey of a cargo ship. It was through this ship that she eventually came to the isle of Nalyndria, and into Nylrem's arms. Tragically, she was slain by Vampyres the night of Nylrem's proposal...

This is pretty cool, it's just, it looks very unatural. You made the bottom lip to big. Well, you should try to make the lips protrude from the face where the lips meet (in the profile) to form an angle. Right now, her lips look like monkey lips (sorry, I don't want to be rude, but they do). And the eyes are great, but they need some solid shading, highlights and light glares on them. Other than that, this is great! Sorry for being so horrible.

:-) Timothy R. Haldane replies: "I take no offense, really. This creation was done early in my process of dealing with NURBS surfaces, and still shows many signs of a steep learning curve. Thankfully, I'm doing much better work now."

3-d modeling ain't the easiest thing in the world to do, folks. Nice job there. What program did you use?

:-) Timothy R. Haldane replies: "Modelled in Rhino 3D 1.1, colored and rendered in Lightwave. Currently, I work in Maya 4. I've done some other work in Softimage XSI."

Heh, I don't think these people have any idea what 3D modeling is like 2 Good pic, try to get some kind of texture/bump map for her hair. I know, thats darn hard too, but try.

:-) Timothy R. Haldane replies: "Naw. I'd rather begin again from scratch at this point. I can do much better now."

Aye, this is indeed really nice for a begining 3d project. Anyone here who is insulting it probably hasnt encountered the frustrations of programs such as Blender, 3D studio max, or Maya... GOOD JOB, and shame on you people to talk bad about this. Heck, its better than I can do. And Im not insulting it.

I think you did a fine job considering that it was done with nurbs and not taken out of a posercan model .. I really admire you ...2
