SciFi and Fantasy Art: Faerie dragon-rider of the western woods

Life Drawing sometimes gets a little monotonous, believe it or not. After you've drawn a few disrobed models, it all starts to kind of get to be very much the same. SO... with this in mind, near the end of the semester, I opted to draw one model as a fae instead of a normal human, because as we all know by now, Elfwood is all about the naked faeries. Plus it's fantasy art, which I'd been dying to do while in school. Here she is, perched atop the unfinished sketch of what was going to be a dragonfly, surveying her surroundings.

Very nice! It looks classical in style, with a little twist.

wow beautiful work. will look excellent once completed. was a bit wary of her arms at first but thats just because I make all my females thin and lanky. Her arms are great.

:-) Timothy R. Haldane replies: "They looked just like that. I think that was because she was gripping the pillow she was sitting on or something; it's been a while. But yeah, she had wonderfully toned arms, without looking overbuilt."

I love the anatomy- you truly are good at capturing the female's perspective, and I have to admit, she does have a big butt (much like mine.. hmm... ) but it fits really well. I hope to see the dragonfly, as that would make the picture even more magnificent. Really awsome, though- keep it up!

:-) Timothy R. Haldane replies: "Absolutely nothing wrong with a round butt, and it really did push out like that when she sat down. It was kinda kewl, actually. I'll think about adding the dragonfly, but I'm really quite hesitant to go back and edit the picture after having left it alone for so long. (I finished these drawings in the winter of 2001.)"

Oh wow, I really like this. Believe it or not, this is the first nude faerie I've seen that wasn't trim, slender, petite, or any of those other words that could be substituted for "thin". I applaud you. And the anatomy is very well done!

20 Timothy R. Haldane replies: "Well, personally I think that faeries should look very light and ephemeral to human eyes, but to one another, perhaps they would look every bit as solid and real as we do to one another. Or something like that. I'm making this up as I go along!"

wow i do like this one
My Fav part is where the wings connect to her body
they are perfect in every Way
Very nice

1 Timothy R. Haldane replies: "Thank you! Y'know that's one of the few things I didn't have a guide for! (I had to make up those wings because fae just won't sit still long enough to draw)"

Sensational! That#s one of the best sketched pieces I've seen on Elfwood no lie. I'll tell ya why I like it its due to how you have picked up every detail so well. Love this! One thing that bothers me is her leg and I'm not sure why. Hmmm still nothing but regardless great work.
