SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Black Cat

More Poe. :) The moment in The Black Cat when the buried wife rises out of the dust behind the wall that husband mysteriously breaks open on accident. The above-mentioned cat sits atop her head, snarling in supernatural defiance of the man's foolish insolence.

I am not too sure about this one. It seems a little stiff, though the coloring is nicely done.

Yeah, they tend to looks very statuesque, which exactly what I didn't want. I kinda wanted to show an exact moment, like a snapshot. This actually looks more like I created a scuptural design in a gallery than a photo, you know?

i thought the wife was killed by an axe blow to the head, and the police found the body because the cat screamed? hmm.. oh well, same difference. love the drawing.

Well I just read that one. He's so sure of himself that he taps on the wall and the cat screams. So the police officers break the wall down. Very good job Tim. I hadn't seen this one yet. Kinda morbid. But the stiffness ads to the effect. Well, that's what I think anyway. Very good. I just barely commented on Annabel Lee, and I was thinking that it would be cool if you drew something from the "Black Cat". Lo and behold, here it is. Hehehe. I should come here more often.

E.A. Poe would have been proud. The mood and sordidness are all there, but you have managed to leave the goriness out, in a way... I don't know how else to put it. Well done.

I'm not sure about the subject. THe way I interpret the story, the wife is just a regular corpse lying there. All the horror in that story is psychological, not supernatural. But I could be wrong.

I couldn't finish The Black Cat-- I am a very timid little person and it scared me to death. Seeing your drawing reminds me of the shivery feeling Poe could conjure way too well- and you can too! Very evocative; I envy that.

I remember this story. Sort of. Read it when I was just a wee little tike. heheh. Think I was seven or eight. Read a lot of horror stuff. Still do. lol. But anyway. Picture. Must comment on the picture (and no, I am not tired :'P ). 's good, though I think it's a little hard to make out the figure of the policeman on the left due to the colors. Or maybe that's just me ::looks at the picture, then shrugs:: One of those two, heheh. I like the dust, especially. I've never been able to manage that, though 'm a writer more than an artist, so.... And I need to stop rambling :21huts up, awards some gold stars, and moves on to the next pic::

Wow! So you DID read the Black Cat! I had only left a comment on the Tell-Tale Heart pic when I saw this! Of the two, I like this one a LOT more (I'm not saying I don't like the other one, read my comment there). The Black Cat was one of my favorite Poe stories!
