SciFi and Fantasy Art: A Miscommuncation Between Species

or... 'Piglet Gets Planted'. Yes, Elfy was my inspiration for this. I love her squished universes series, so I decided to do one of my own. For those not familiar with Orson Scott Card's novel 'Speaker for the Dead', the Piggies (Pequeninos) are the native race of the world of Lusitania. They're a generally benign race, but they do a few things rather differently than we earthlings do. Let's just say Piglet REALLY doesn't want their generosity. Yeah, I know this is a science-fiction related piece. But it's also completely silly, and this is my larger gallery. So yeah....

Absolutely briliant, very witty indeed!

:-) Timothy R. Haldane replies: "Thank you, thank you, but really you should check out Elfy's work. She inspired this."

Big ender fan here. The piggies are awesome! So is piglet. I think he would make a great father tree. Tell all the stories of the hundred acre wood to the hive queen.

1 Timothy R. Haldane replies: "ROFL. I love the commentary! This team up has some potential, ne?"

I wonder if Piglet would turn into a hunny tree? ;- )

:-) Timothy R. Haldane replies: "Oh, undoubtedly! And what a hunny tree he would be!"

Hahaha! Funny, I'v have read Speaker for the Dead and now I'm reading Xenocide, I know piglet cant run fast but hopefully theyll give him enough of that pain killing grass stuff so he wont feel much. Besides, hes not goin anywhere, not when the descolada is on the planet and a fleet is coming to blow the whole planet to oblivion! But I dont think the piggies are so damn fat! No offense, there suppost to be fit though. I really wanna c a pic of a bugger, or the hive queen, or somethin! could u do that?

:-) Timothy R. Haldane replies: "I've toyed with the idea of drawing the hive queen - but I'm trying to come up with a way to make her look ant-like without looking like a Dungeons and Dragons Formian or something. Personally, I think she should be very large, heavily armored, and very creepy looking. When I've got some free time, I'll see what I can come up with."

Well the hive queen, from what I read in Xenocide, is suppost to be really big and actually kind of mindless, because you find out later that she not really herself, its hard to explain. Card doesnt really give the best detaisl about how she looks. If you have aim im at artistdude2003

Wow, this is really cool! But I always pictured the piggies as shorter and fatter and with a rounder face, like Phil from the Disney Hercules cartoon (I was forced to watch it, cuz of my brother)

Oh my god... This pic is the BEST i've seen in elfwood. OSC is the best Sci-Fi writer in the world.
Great concept. Makes you think how Piglet wound up on Lusitania, hundreds of light-years away.
About the Piglet-to-hunny tree concept; He's a piglet, not a pequenino, he can't use the descolada for a trans-kingdom genetic alteration.
And I always imagined the piggies as slightly thinner...
Anyways, I think that this confusion is nothing Andrew Wiggin can't take care of. (Ha, I love that, I have the same name as Ender!)
