SciFi and Fantasy Art: Empyreal - Self PortraitAs I sit in the hallway, completely engrossed in some incredible trance tune, I begin to envision myself under the guise of my screen name. The warm glow of flame leaps from my back, and my wings arch outward, yet still, somehow relaxed. Suddenly, I look up and glace into the reflection on the glass of the display case before me, and realize with melancholy that I am still merely a mortal. | |
 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 9 Nov 1999 | Christine M. Houser | This... is... SWEET!!!! Whoa... I love that you've kept the sketchiness in the drawing, yet you still see the finished form... wow... ::cowtows and touches forehead to floor:: | |
| 14 Nov 1999 | Ellen Sturm | Sigh! | |
| 15 Nov 1999 | Tanya Kozik | I love the way you did the wings - conveys your idea very nicely. But dude, you're not as old as you've drawn yourself! And I'd imagine, not as squat If you were doing foreshortening, it didn't quite work. I think the most problematic area is the arms: the slope of the shoulders seems either too sloped or not round enough and the hands are too small, perhaps. Try taking this pose and looking in the mirror. I love, however, the way you did the pants - perfect! Suggests the body underneath and shows the fabric nicely - and not overdone, either. Timothy R. Haldane replies: "You aughta see my shoulders. They're not terribly rounded. In fact, they're quite broad. Makes me look like I'm in better shap than I am." | |
| 27 May 2000 | Kim Van Gampelaere | Wonderfull! I like the way you fade out those wingies! I would call your work 'the thinker', he looks higly concentrated... Love the sketchy style. Really good. | |
| 24 Jun 2001 | Fang | Man that is just great! It looks really real like, and I love the way you go in to a story type placeing of it. It really makes you look at it more. I love the wings, I keep trying to draw them and I get the top dut can't do a thing past that. Well it looks really great! keep it up. | |
| 3 May 2002 | Anonymous | How came that the female angels are naked and the male angels are not???? I WANT TO SEE A NAKED MALE ANGEL!!!! Timothy R. Haldane replies: " uhh.... you do realize this is a SELF-PORTRAIT don't you?" | |
| 11 Jan 2003 | Master of the Sword | Dude, you are sick. | |
| 2 Oct 2003 | Spider-Matt | Self Portrait, eh? You see yourself as an angel? I've met some conceited people before, but come on! (.)(.) > O | |
| 22 Nov 2003 | NuLiForm | Tim, I think this pic Is Wonderful! It shows that Angelics are people too! Albiet not Human, but people nonetheless. What law is written that says we Must conform to This societies ideas of Norm? To any and all that have a problem with this?, chill and be cool about it? Sleep on. We wont wake you. Imho, this IS the real You. Go ahead, Embrace your Awakening! | |
| 11 Oct 2005 | Anonymous | May have misinterpreted, but it sounded from the description like you weren't drawing yourself, but yourself under the guise of your SN. I don't know about you guys, but Empyreal DOES sound like an angel to me, so there's no egotism there as far as I'm concerned. But seriously, very nice, man. I'm new to elfwood but I'm glad to see that 9/10 of artists here seem to be very skilled. I'm the 1/10 | |
