SciFi and Fantasy Art: Si Lipanbara

Si Lipanbara is a badik (dagger) that belonged to Great Queen Narazura II, who ended the War of Brethren by slaying Amradan the Iron Fist on their marriage bed. She agreed to wed the Dark King to save the Empire - and as a tactical move to defeat the invading Amradan.
The weapon was forged from various metals by the Deawarian smiths of old, and infused with the spirit of the Deawar. The various metals gave the blade its damascened appearence. It was tempered with the blood of Nantaboga, the mightiest of the Naga, who also helped in forging the blade. To this end, Nantaboga punctured his own tongue - the dragon's softest part - and caught the blood in a deep, silver grail. As such, the blood remained in a long crack formed in the center of the blade, which appeared during the forging process. The crack, in the form of a centipede, gave the blade its name: Lipanbara - the centipede of burning coals. The tip of the blade has a crack, called "the thirsty raven", signifying its bloodthirsty nature. The blade was then mounted in intricately carved ivory, gold and silver. The blade glows an eerie red when danger is near, and has the power to summon huge, demonic centipedes that burrow through their enemies while devouring them.

Artist's note: The initial sketch was made on A4 paper in pencil, then inked using technical pens. Finally, the line art is scanned and coloured using Photoshop.
