SciFi and Fantasy Art: A face

Reason I put this picture up because I think if there was ever a mermaid or a sea sprite, I'm sure Portia will make a very good one (IMHO that is). Remind me not to do this again. Her hair was difficult with all the curls, small braids and don't forget the crimps! Anyway, here's my best effort (I think I haven't got her nose quite right).

wow! you draw really well...i really like the hair...except for the crimped part, i'm afraid. Honestly, if you hadn't said that it was crimped hair, I would have thought that it was pieces of striped fabric. I think perhaps it needs more smoothness to the shading, instead of just being uniformly dark in one place and light in another. Also, perhaps her nose is a little too long? (that seems to be the case in a few of your faces, but that might just be me) Anyhoo, keep up the good work!Nadia says: Thanks Sabian about pointing out about the nose. I wasn't aware that it was drawn a tad longer than most but when I really look over at them, you were right. Thanks again.

This is my favorite of your work. I like the shading in her hair that makes it look almost like feathers. I'd love to see a full body done with this picture. She'd be really pretty as some sort of faerie with large, extravant wings. 2

Very well drawn...I liked it a lot..Portia de Rossi, I'm assuming...I cannot do hair, i have SOOO much trouble with it...you have tons of natural talent, the nose does look a bit overlong...but oh well, its still good. 19)

Love the hair and the smile is very nice...my only two cents (as if I'm worthy) is maybe soften her eyebrows a tad....but it's beautiful anyhoo!

This picture is lovely. I admire your patience with the hair details. Beisdes, her nose is absolutely not "too" long. Too long for what? She looks happy for real and that is very hard to achieve, I know.

Very nice. Yes, a mermaid, indeed... I do that too: I'm like "if that person were suddenly transformed into a mythic creature, what would they be?" Very nice pic.

Is it just me or can you not place an age to this person? Too bad you weren't going for an Aes Sedai, 'cause this has got to be one of the few ageless faces I've seen. Good job!

I'm sorry, I simply can not see anything wrong with the nose. Looking at people some have longer noses some have narrow noses some look like a blob was left there. Every human (being) is different and I simply can not find a flaw in the nose. I absolutely adore the smile. Very impish very beautiful. I agree with the hair however, I originally thought it was feathers or something. Contrast perhaps a little too stark? *smiles* Bravo. I love this little creature.
