SciFi and Fantasy Art: Maedhros - Son of Fëanor

Yay - five down, two to go! This one was waiting to be scanned for a looong time. The ear is weird, but my scanner is such a dinosaur, I don't feel like fixing it and rescanning, so deal. Otherwise... eh, I think it's fair. This particular scene shows the elf in question staring back across to Aman in regret, as his father sets fire to the white ships of the Teleri. Where are the ships and the fire, you may ask? Well, they're behind his head. That was just poor planning on my part, I admit. But there you have it.

Wow! It's Maedhros, I love it.
I like it how you positioned the hands in a grasp, both in the painting and not - It's a very nice focal point. It's also great to see an illustration of Maedhros with both hands 2
His features are striking, but makes me feel sad because he's sad. You can really see the regret and sadness 8
I also love the background, it's simple but it does convey a lot.
Overall I find it to be very beautiful - all your illustrations are beautiful 2

Right. I usually don't post comments (in fact, this is the first time) but as the fanatic gleam in my eye started to scare even me I figured that it was about time :-P

Firstly; I love his expression. His eyes mirror his soul so perfectly- the longing is so apparent. One minor thing, though, regarding his chin- it's a bit too long. *is nitpicky, but why go against thine nature?* I love his hands- they look a bit sketchy to me, but I'm not sure. It just makes him seem so real, somehow. All in all, brilliant, beautiful, need-more-adjectives-to-describe-wonderfulness- piccie. It's my Maedhie alright ^_^ (and out of curiousity- what kind of pencils do you use?)

13 Hannah Lee Fritz replies: "Thanks very much! I appreciate your comments. Prolly right about the chin, IDK. And just cheapo mechanical pencils."

Yay, Hannie art! Hmph, thanks for letting me know. ::give Hannah the Look:: Hee, but really. Beautiful piece. The emotion is so strong in this piece it's painful. You can sense his sadness not only in his face and eyes, but also in his hands and posture.

I really like this picture, although I think Meadhros was red-haired. It is great tho', and so are all your other pics that I've seen.

12 Hannah Lee Fritz replies: "Groundless speculation. But thanks, nonetheless!"

You have a very good understanding of the face! A few more years and you'll be better than da Vinci and Michealangelo (can't spell it) !
Poor Maedhros! he is brave, standing up the his father like that!

13 Hannah Lee Fritz replies: "LOL, wow, thanks!"
