SciFi and Fantasy Art: Faethe tu'Brynn

Faethe is a creation of a combine effort. A friend of mine had me over for some socializing and some rping. Faethe is the end result of a visual description of a character she wants to play. :) She wanted me to create on of my creatures, a nightmare in my style and form. So I did, and we built a character around her. :) She is very demonic, and a little draconic and yet still fairly equine in feel and seeming. The name comes from a Celti-ized twist to the word Faith. tu'Brynn means 'from', or ' in relation to' Brynn (a shortened from of my last name, Bryant).

Awsome pic!!!!!!!!!!! But what does rping mean?

:-) Hope Lynn Bryant replies: "*chuckles* I often forget that much of the population doesn't know what rp is, sorry about that. ^.^

RP is short for Role Playing. Think of when you used to play pretend as a kid. Its the same sort of thing, but with rules and guidelines that older folks do. 2 You take on a character or "persona" and pretend you are them. you involve said character into a story line or plot, and have them react is ways that the character would react. Its like Ad-Lib acting in many ways. 2"

Excellent job on the hands. But the position of the character seems just slightly weird. Good picture, anyhoo...

:-) Hope Lynn Bryant replies: "A combination of a 8.5 x 11 inch sketch book, trying to cram so much movement into one space, and realizing that I nearly forgot to put in the wings tends to create issues in an image. 12 *chuckles*

Using the 's'curve for the spine line gives the character a bit more lively movement. the six limbs on a character poses balance problems. Where the shoulder would tilt in the opposite direction of the hips, now I have a pair of wings to try and figure out. To much of a streach, and one sprains noe's wing muscles. SO I opted to keep them in as neutral position as possible. 12 Sadly it stil 'muddies' the sillouette of the image, making it harder to read. :/"

:-) Hope Lynn Bryant replies: "The key is to draw, draw, and keep drawing. Fill pages up with dooldes, studies, mini sketch work, and thoughts. 2

Great line management, try and give it some color. This is astonishing.

:-) Hope Lynn Bryant replies: "Thank you very much. 2 I have been practicing my line work for a few months now. I have been hoping that it has improved. ^.^

Color seems to be the only way to refine and 'pull out' the finer details, the only question I have is what colors. :/ My friend, for whom this was created for, thought of a blue-black body and a firey mane and tail. It might work, but i am fret-ful that the darker colors would blend too much of the sillouette, especially closer to the central body. *ponders*"

Mystery Dragon: i likes mane and top two arms. The expression on the face is very....um...expressive..yah that's it expressive *ponders on more meaningful word for face*
Lance: The joint of the arm for the wing is weird. i guess it's nice otherwise.
Mystery Dragon: Don't mind him, he always dwells on the mistakes in the picture. Well, not always.
Lance: OH MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!

OH dear!! *hides*
