| 2 Dec 2002 | Eileen Megan Steinhauer | Paid off quite well I would say! And I wouldn't be too concerned about his frame not being able to carry the tusk weight. Mythical creatures have their own magic, and own inner strengths, what's a little tusk weight to a creature of the imagination! Seriously, this is a wonderful piece, and you should be very proud! | |
| 7 Dec 2002 | Sarah C. | Despite the abnormal physics of the piece, the detail still impresses me every time I look at it. | |
| 28 May 2003 | Christina 'C.J.' DeCamp | Maybe they're not really tusks. Maybe they're hollow and are used to help him bellow- like the horn thing on a duck billed dino's head. Then it would be a lot lighter and easier to carry around on that wonderfully fine skull structure. I agree, he looks like an herbivoire, and you did an excellent job on the teeth. Teeth are SO hard! He looks really good! | |
| 5 Oct 2003 | Keirala | I can never work well in pen- you really manage it pretty much as well as it can be, though. Love it, even with the whole weight thing. | |
| 24 Nov 2003 | Kathleen M. Whittet | The tusks need not be perfect for the skull. If every fantasy creature followed the rules of biology there would be no fantasy at all. That's why when ever I draw a fantasy being I never worry about it being able to fit into our parameters of biology. It's no fun that way! keep up the dream, let us have our unicorns! *gets off soap box*8 ahem, I'm done now. I love your work by the way! Mira J. R. Horsky replies: "Well, I like it both ways. For instance, I have created several characters (Petra and the other gargoyles, for instance) who have wings that could never support their weight, but can still fly. On the other hand, I don't think that fantasy creatures should have to use magic for everything. Basically, if the anatomy of a lion's hindlegs is skewed, it's still going to be skewed if you put them on a griffin. The poor beast shouldn't need to rely on its 'fantasy' status to be able to walk. Still, thanks for the comment and your encouragement! Have a good one." | |
