SciFi and Fantasy Art: Nebraska

named after the great flocks of sandhill cranes that gather at the Platte River every spring, on their way north. wish i knew the native-american word for this, or name of any applicable spirits.

Love the wings, they are fabulous. Seems to me you must feel so free when you have wings and you can fly wherever you want to go.
Love Rian

I love how you're not afraid to show fantasies behind more mundane, less exotic places and things. People on Elfwood concentrate so much on the magic of rainforests, medieval Europe, Native America, and the Far East, they fail to see the magic that's happening right under their feet. I'm glad to see that you captured the glory of an overlooked time and place.

I once painted something that was similar in theme. (I sold it and lost the disk that I had it scanned onto, or else I'd put it on Elfwood.) It was calld "Tennessee Autumn" and it showed a goddess covered in both traditional and modern symbols of Mabon.thanks jennifer^^ yeah, there's just so much history underfoot...everywhere! i wish i knew more about the nations that once passed thru there...and of their dreams, and their sharing. but alas!wish i could've seen Tennessee Autumn! i love symbols too^^ hopefully you'll be able to recover that image again someday! but, you aroused my curiosity.....what is Mabon?

Yay! Birdies! You really must update more often. I haven't visited your gallery in months! This is very nice. It has a nice windy, ruffly, free feeling. Wonderful composition.thank you^^ the muses just won't let me rush things...but i do have a lot of unfinished stuff around.

I think her hair would match the bird better if it was a trifle more red, but on the whole I really love this picture as well! I adore looking at wings especially! I'm a bird addict but I can never draw birds well, so basically I stick to drawing their wings, but I can't get in the sheer amount of detail you've drawn.
