SciFi and Fantasy Art: Ophelia

well, my interpretation of ophelia anyway! there are two things happening here. in the first, the proverbial sacrificial virgin is ascending into heaven...instead of the fiery volcano. and in the second, shakespeare's ophelia is being rewarded for unconditional love...instead of being punished for it. (just my little rebellion against society's oppressive view of women)

You are an inspiration to all of us, Howard. Do you have a girlfriend? Want one?

That's so strange--I spoke to a faery yesterday who called herself Ophelia. (Don't stare! I can talk to faeries if I want to!) I think she was coming to warn me about falling in love to hard and too fast. Just a strange coincidence that I saw your interpretive version of Ophelia just after having a vision that involved her.

Willows could really help this piece out. It's begging for willows. In the background, or with a branch or two weeping into the front...? I dunno. I've just always thought Shakespeare's symbolism connected to willows is very powerful.

Beautiful colors and a beautiful, new interpretation. I'll bet you've got a lot of women swoonign over you, huh? (;

It takes a real man to truly appreciate femininity. Great work on a beautiful scene!haha^^ i wish! hmm, but yeah...ophelia would know a lot about love. i'd trust her! and willows, yes. i need to get into that more. thanks again jennifer!

HUMMINGBIRDS!! I LOVE hummingbirds! *gently glomps* YAAAAAYYYYY!!!! *runs in random circles until he becomes ultra-dizzy and falls down* I also just love what you've done with Ophelia's hair, its color, texture, etc.

This makes me think of hope and freedom. It would make a great 'get well soon' or 'hang in there' card, I think. But they would have to be blank on the inside; No manner of poetry or piece of wisdom could ever match the beauty of your art.gee, thanks leanna^^ nice idea! it kinda gives me hope too, that someday we can all be free. i like to think i can make people feel differently about things.
