| 31 Jul 2001 | A. de Hoyos | Hey, I've checked out your work, pretty cool. I like this one especially. I'm a fan of sketches, I think they're very base and just plain cool. I like the finished product on this one as well. Check out my stuff too and tell me what you think. | |
| 2 Sep 2001 | Sterling | Well this makes you good at layering on computer programs as well as on paper...+2 | |
| 17 Nov 2001 | Amber 'Rose' Falkenstein | Hey, i think this is really cool, that you shared the steps of the process you used to color this illustration. And it's a very good picture too. I've been wanting to colorize alot of my things on the computer, but still i havent quite gotten the hang of it. Nice job. | |
| 29 Mar 2002 | Pearl | Cool stuff here My fave out of the 6 steps here is actually the blue one--like art when it's all sketched up. | |
| 19 May 2002 | Loki | A phoenix is a BIRD.
Yep, a bird that burns to death and is reincarnated from its own ashes. So you figured out how she got her name. However, if you have a friend named Bill and you walk up to him and say, "a bill is a DUCK'S BEAK," I guarantee he's gonna think you're a goof.
| 2 May 2003 | Klaas Van de Moortel | Finally someone is sharing his knowledge with us. Thanks for that. How do you make each layer? Do you select every patch of skin that should have the same color and put it in a new layer? Or is there an easier way?
Oh, I'm a Layer king. I love using hoards of layers. This one only has 12 layers though: white background, background fire, drop shadow, blue-white fur, pink hair, toe and fingernails, line drawing, horn-eyes-teeth, horn glare, fire over feet, fire from hands, copyright. I made the line drawing dark blue on white and have it set to multiply so you can see the color on the lower layers. After filling each area in with flat color, I preserve the transparency so I don't have to worry about coloring over the lines. That's about it! I used filters on the fire and hair in this one. Now that I have a tablet, I draw them myself. I'm happy to answer any more questions too...
