 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 29 Aug 2004 | Sara Melissa Bean | Beautiful...yes, so, the horse has a few anatomical booboos...no big deal! The overall effect of the image is amazing. And the background is great, reminds me of the landscapes of Paul Cezanne. | |
| 27 Jun 2005 | Amanda M. Sutherland | Long down the paths of time Colt's Foot and Columbine Perfume the cool woodland scene.
Wearing of travelling Onward rides Raymondine Lost in the threads of a dream.
As fair as the flowers As bright as the light on the stream.
(Martin Pearson)
There is more to this song, but I saw this picture and these lines from the very start came to mind. The story is about Melusine, who was cursed to turn into a dragon once every seven days. She falls in love with Raymond, and he with her, and they marry on the condition her not look at her on the seventh day of the week. They live happily for about three years, but he begins to wonder what she is doing, and thinks that she is cheating on him. He peeks through the keyhole, and sees her in her dragon form. Because he did this, she was doomed to remain in that form forever.
This probably wasn't the story you were thinking when you painted this, but I thought it fit quite nicely! Perhaps after that he went searching for the Grail with the other knights, and found it, but it brings him no joy since he cannot share his triumph with his beloved Melusine.

| 6 Oct 2006 | Alicia | Amazing, i don't know what else i could say because the realism in your picture is just astounding, remains on of my favourite on Elfwood after all these years. Seriously, one of the best pictures ever, i still can't believe it didn't get Mod's choice, but just brilliant, bloody brilliant. | |
| 26 Mar 2007 | Anonymous | may i just say, that the top part of where the neck and shoulder connect a anatomatically out of place. The "hump" should be placed farther back, and not forward. | |
| 17 Oct 2007 | David Michael | I also love the warm colors here. It feels like late afternoon, which is so very appropriate to a weary soul. Chivalry is a massive, soul-straining duty, and you've captured his tired commitment very well. Excellent. | |
