SciFi and Fantasy Art: Grief

A sad picture for a sad reason. The sketch came to me shortly after I got the phone from my mum call to say my Grandad had passed away. I coloured it a couple of days later. It wasn't unexpected, and he'd had a good innings, and I'd been able to see him to say goodbye the night before but that wasn't about to stop me grieving. I miss him. I think this picture gets across how I was feeling. I ended up drawing Blackjack because he's my oldest character and drawing him comes to me most naturally.

Yeah, we all feel that way when someone close to us dies. I think you have expressed sadness beautifully in the picture.

This is so beautiful yet so depressing. I'm not just saying this, but I actually have tears in my eyes because it's almost like the emotion you put into this picture is filling me with the grief and sorrow you had at the time. You are a truly great artist.

’To drunk to stand, to sorrowful to care, Blackjack sits among the wastland of the earth, and grieves the loss of a family member. He sits alone, banishing himself from the cruel eyes of humankind, and allows the Blood of the Innocence to intertwine with his tears, as they fall like water droplets from the petals of a black rose."
