SciFi and Fantasy Art: Goblin

This is a monster class that I did. I'm not really sure if this is a goblin or an orc. There have been so many varying descriptions from my friends. I'll just call it a goblin.

TSR claims Goblins are Red... but I don't know about that... maybe it's a half-orc-half-goblin?

Well technically if we are going to go to the source of most of the D&D beasties, we need to check out Tolkein's work. Goblins are the same thing as orks, only hobbits refer to orks as goblins. If we look at it from a D&D perspective its a goblin beyond a shadow of a doubt, probally a green skinned subrace. If we look at it as a Warhammer monster then its also a goblin as orcs in Warhammer are really beefed up.

OK if your gunna speak of tolkien get it right..... Goblins in Middle earth are the smaller of ther Ork races , ya got standard orcs. ... <goblins>, Half-orcs whitch looks more like standard Orks , and uruk-hai witch are the big power houses ....

Goblins are red? Hobgoblins have red faces, sometimes blue, but this is much too small to be a hobgoblin. Goblins are green, at least in third Edition, and, if you ask me, both TSR and WOTC are a bunch of crackheads that need their nuggets examined (nugget being head for all you pervs.)It's a great picture, and it is, indeed, a goblin, as it is not wide enough to be an orc, who are huge, smell funny, and have bad atitudes. Goblins are small, smell funny, and have bad atitudes.

Oh! Pretty orcsei...or goblin1 I love em both! No one said orcs are fat, nor that they have bright coloured faces. He's lovely! Orc or goblin!

Orc = goblin. Like Imps, goblins are characterized as being small and always a mischievous creature. all 3 of these creatures are usually ugly, sprite-like and generally evil.
Goblins/ Orcs are taller and bigger than imps yet all 3 have the long ears, greenish skin, and smell bad. Imps are usually scared of anything but like to pull pranks.
Great artwork - keep it up

Actually he was right, Orcs and Goblins are the same thing in Tolkien's works. Orc is a distortion of the word Orch wich comes from elvish Sindarin tonuge. Orch and Goblin are the same thing. There are of coure different kinds of Goblins/Orcs out there of course, just like Men.
