SciFi and Fantasy Art: Hippocerf

This is a Hippocerf- a cross between a Horse and a Deer. They were orginally the symbol of indecision in heraldry. ^_^ In the story I've been working on recently, they're going to be the mounts of the elvish royalty in Jaydene Wood. I'm going to make them slightly faster than a horse, being able to run at 35 mph tops instead of a horse's 25 mph.  ^_^ I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out- although I have mixed feelings about the shafts of light in the background. In some ways I like them, and in other's I don't. But, oh well. *shrug*

Simply beautiful. I love the hippocerf, and the backgrounding is elemental yet eloquent. I have real trouble with background. I love the way you do that.
