SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lord Nychron

A commissioned piece of artwork for a PBEM RPG. I was asked to draw a cyborg with distinct mechanical arms and legs and with half his face being robotic, but I didn't want to copycat the superhero Cyborg of Justice League/Teen Titans fame, so I took a cue from Terminator, threw in a little Ultron-5, a little Deathlock, and a little Jean Luc Picard (the human half of the face) and viola! (I can hear the hard-core trekkies now; 'He doesn't look like Captain Picard!' or 'He looks nothing like Locutus of Borg!') Awwwwwww SHADDUP!

Really good, great job, especially the shading. I only see one thing wrong with it though. At the very top of his head, the mechanical part is overlapping the flesh which makes it look more like a mask than half a a cyborg head. But this is hardly noticeable. Again, great job.

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "The raised dome on his head was intentional. I thought it made more sense for the metal to overlap skin, and thus the ridge where the metal and skin meet."

I like it.

Oh damn... you already said that in teh description... shame on me!

:-) Matt Jarrett replies: "No worries. At least you didn't say he DOESN'T look like Locutus, since this isn't Locutus."

He bears some resemblance to Captain Picard of the Next Generation Enterprise when he was captured by the Borg....

This is awesome! Very well executed study of the possible internal structure of a cyborg (or related) being...Good job here! And of course, a nice job with the graphite always helps, looking nice and metallic where it should. Well done!

The first thing I thought of when I saw this was it looks like Patrick Steward! Great work!
