| 4 Jan 2006 | Ogrebear | I have always liked your Orcs and seeing Joanna here is almost a sequal to the piece where they catch her bathing. Joanne also seems to be in less danger here than in the pic of her surrounded by Human males. *I* feel there is less possibility of violance from the Orcs somehow.... I dont think we agree on Orcs- I see good Orcs being more than possible (even in D&D) and I would hope these Orcs are indeed of that type..... hey its fantasy anything is possible and the sterotypes can't be true all the time! More Joanne and Orc pics please! Matt Jarrett replies: "Joanna, at the time that these drawings take place, agreed with your take on orcs due to her limited exposure and knowledge of orcs culture. But in truth the only thing keeping them from doing something nasty to her is cuz they were unsure of Joanna's true nature (was she a goddess, or one of the abusive priests in disguise to test them). She seems to be having fun because #1.) She is pi$$ drunk 2.) The orcs were on their best behavior until they could determine what she actually was. That being said, orcs in my campaign world are thoroughly evil, fighting and murdering their way through life. The only reason Joanna isn't attacked outright is that they are also a paranoid and superstitious lot. That allows Joanna some latitude of safety at the moment." | |
| 30 Mar 2006 | Anonymous | Very interesting and Joanna was quite lucky in that instance, if you ever do publish a comic involving her sure it would be a great read. | |
| 8 Aug 2006 | Faust XIII | It really makes sense that the orcs would mistake her as some sort of goddess. I mean, come on, orcs are practically retarded, and the way she is dressed... I can see how they could get confused. Matt Jarrett replies: "I dunno, I don't make my orcs as being entirely stupid, just sorta self destructive in their culture and kinda primitive in the same manner. I think of orcs as, for the most part, not as intellectual or civilized as mankind, but clever and cunning, AND superstitious, hence them mistaking Joanna for a goddess. Actually, several humans believe she's a goddess as well, so the orcs are guilty of the same thing as the more advanced races." | |

| 8 Jan 2007 | Odhreg | I love the way you've depicted your orcs here. Excellent job. | |
| 14 Jul 2007 | Robert H Madison Jnr. | ok the orcs are freaking perfect : old school i might say big hulking with tusks and knobby things on the forehead (chicks dig the knobby things hehe) this has to be one of my most favorite pics of Joanne except for the dancing on the table pic *melts* shes my all time favorite reoccuring charicters in any picture definitly make more of her oh and the orcs too (knobby knobby lol ) Matt Jarrett replies: "Thanks! Yes, she’s my favorite subject to draw too. Getting her to look exactly as I envisioned her has been a challenge over the years, but I think I finally got it. " | |
| 30 Jan 2008 | Brooke Frederick | You did an amazing job once more. Your talent makes me very eagerly want to see this comic you’re working on. I really like the lighting in the first image shown. Also if you didn’t put in your text ’Joanna’s adventures’, I would have gotten the impression that this was a human ***** among the orcs. Matt Jarrett replies: "Oh I’m no longer working on that comic. Gave that up quite a few years ago. " | |
