SciFi and Fantasy Art: Bast, the Goddes of Cats

I'm not sure if Mythology counts as fantasy, but I wanted to add this to the portfolio because I view her as a goddess of my dream. I tried to portray her in the way that I seem to dream her. I was even thinking of creating a character sheet for her, but how does one create a goddess??

Its very good! But try not to put hair because she can still be look good without it!

:-) Juanita Annastasia Storms Sutherland replies: "You are right, she might look just as good without hair. but I can't help it, it was in a dream that I saw her this way, and so I drew her this way. "

nice pic, but i believe the goddess is called "Bastet", not "Bast"

1 Juanita Annastasia Storms Sutherland replies: "Actually...research has proven to me that the original name is not completely agreed upon. Bast, Bastet, Bu-Bastes, and some even think that Sekhmet and Selkhet are the same entity. Who knows. I go with Bast, cause it's simple and easy to pronounce. "

So.......If you create it then it is real....Is this true......You have done a fine job...By the sound of it you might have a updated pitcher?

:-) Juanita Annastasia Storms Sutherland replies: "I got some photos taken and will be working on a Painting soon! Keep your eyes peeled around Feb for the scanning of it!"

No, no, no. Per-bast.org clears this up. Bast, not Bastet. Protector goddess, not goddess of fertility. Do actual research, please.

:-) Juanita Annastasia Storms Sutherland replies: "now now, play nice. giggle. Read my above comment about the non-agreement on names."

I love this. I adore cats and I believe they think they're gods, so...It's right on the money. How do you create a godess? Try...please!!!! I want to see her when you finally bring yourself to do it. Beautiful detail.

:-) Juanita Annastasia Storms Sutherland replies: "Thanks for the comlpiment, you have great art too!I haven't created her yet, but perhaps soon!"

One of the best representations of Bast(or Bastet as she is otherwise known as) that I have seen. Captures what I would envision her to look like. Would be a great tattoo.

:-) Juanita Annastasia Storms Sutherland replies: "Thanks...I guess it might look good on someones arm. "

The profile is absolutely beautiful! I like the effect with her hair...more like tendrils. Very cool.

:-) Juanita Annastasia Storms Sutherland replies: "Thank you for the compliment...I enjoyed purusing your art as well! I actually tried to create this picture with ceramics...no pic yet. It didn't come out tendrilly thought, ended up being like a nun's cowl. sigh. "
