| 6 Apr 2000 | Thierry A. Leguay | Very realistic. I think this is one of your best... Does art ever need an explanation? Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "Yes. Explanation is what this forum is all about. I do agree, however, that it art should not require an explanation." | |
| 22 Apr 2000 | Nick Thornborrow | This one caught my eye. The face is great. So realistic. But put a bit more contrast in it to make it punch. It great though. The detail is amazing. Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "The original does have more contrast. The graphite is shiny and doesn't scan so well. I should have done some post production scan correction. This is why I usually stick to charcoal for b/w portraits. The contrast has more of a mat finish and transfers mediums better. Problem is, charcoal is so messy. The detail is actually the focus of this image. I did it to demonstrait the use of a superimposed grid for enlargement. The original was 6.5in by 10in with a half inch grid." | |
| 17 Jun 2000 | Maria Ringsevjen | This is just so great! Your shading is perfectly done, very life-like! Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "Thanks. I sort of think of this one as Indiana Jones' Grandfather." | |
| 10 Jul 2000 | Anon. | The shading is excellent, especially in his face and clothes. But while his hand looks completely like a hand, properly shaded and the correct size and position and all, it looks a little too young to be Bob's. Otherwise a very good picture. Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "What can I say? These new hand creams must do wonders." | |
| 25 Jul 2000 | Genevieve C. Baillie | For some reason what popped in my head on seeing this was that he was a farmer who'd just won first place at the county fair for his magical pumpkins. ~grins~ This is stunning pencil work - I'm not sure wether the smooth shading on his fingers or the detail on the cup is the more impressive. Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "Thanks. That was some pumpkin too. Urp." | |
| 1 Dec 2000 | Deborah L. R. Dixon | Shading and detail are very impressive. Great portrait. This is the one that stopped me at your gallery. Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "Thanks for the note. I try to put something for everyone in this collection." | |
| 1 Jan 2001 | Ashley Stoddard | great pic. i love the cup. and his hand. and his hat. definitely his hat. therefore he shall be included in the Bob tour. rejoice, o Bob! Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "Wow... His own tour. I like it. Thanx." | |
| 24 Dec 2001 | Julie R. Kowalski | Excellent rendering....it is a rendering, right?....you must do more out of your head as well! Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "I made a collage from magazine photographs, superimposed a grid with a red ball point pen, and then hand scaled the whole image up in size to fit the paper. The juxtaposition of the images was my idea, as are any little fill in spots. I tried to keep it as true to the original images as possible, but you know how drawing goes.. you fudge here... you edit there..." | |
