| 15 Jul 2000 | | The architecture and lighting is great, the standing man is ok, but those yucky modern-looking kids ruin it all.Sorry. Those are halflings, and they're part of the character concept. Look closely, they have weapons. The one on the left is actually one of my own characters. Yorick is a 'halfling proctector' for some reason that I haven't yet fathomed. | |
| 2 Sep 2000 | Anon. | That thing he's holding against his chest. It looks more like he would be leaning on it, but as your eyes travel down, there's nothing. I just see it as more of maybe a cane, or a saff, or maybe a long sword. Then again, I've been sick for a week, my perception may have been affected. Otherwise, good picture, much detail, though the kids kinda look... undershadowed?Sorry, I don't see anything against his chest. making a web graphic of it did eliminate a lot of detail, but I think most people can still see that he's cleaning his fingernails with a dagger similar to the numerous ones that he has strapped to his body in many places. | |
| 1 Feb 2001 | Rebecca Sinclair | Lots of time went into this, I can see. I'm imressed with the lighting; it only falls were it's supposed to, ignoring the archways. The door openings are so onimous... *doesn't know how to spell* You sure do a lot for a character described as 'average'. What exactly is a scratch board? I've heard about it several times, but not actually seen one.I can't spell it either without my spelling checker. Scratch board is white paper covered with a thin layer of clay, wax or metal and then sprayed with black ink. You 'draw' on it in reverse, using a sharp implement to scratch the ink away, exposing the surface underneath. It's the graphic opposite of pen and ink. | |
| 11 Feb 2001 | Scarlet | This is beautiful! I admire your skill. Have you ever read the Bifrost Gaurdian searies my Micky Zucker Reichert? He reminds me of the shadow climber. Thanks and ... nope, sorry, never read it. I don't get out much. | |
| 18 Feb 2001 | Krellin | I must say, that is absolutely amazing, I have attempted several different scratch board "drawings" in shcool etc. which didn't turn out half bad, but that is outstanding...There is a trick. Don't think about outlines; always think about positive and negative space. Too many follow their instinct to outline everything. That's been the key problem I have seen with scratchboard work. Hope it helps. | |
| 22 May 2002 | Cheryl L. Jensen | Now, that is some excellent detail! The way you use your crosshatch, it adds depth and texture to the picture, making it look more rugged. Very nice work in your gallery, all around!Thanx. I do try to pay attention to the surface lines when I can. | |
| 14 Jul 2003 | Cassandra kittle | This is freakin awesome. Makes me think of the Royal Assassin. It's a Magic card. Yep I am a dork. *runs off to eat some chex* | |
| 6 Sep 2003 | Ryan Caisse | I really like this piece. Is that stippling on those bricks? Crimminy, you must have been working on this for hours and hours. Your hard work paid off though. Having the children in the background and their fair tone adds a terrific contrast to the subject. Definitely a character that would be "of the Cloak". Even though there is alot of detail in piece, you still managed to preserve a strong sense of contrast. Well done. Jeremy Clay Fowler-Lindemulder replies: "Thanx... I actually did it as a character portrait for a player who defined his rogue's looks as extremely average. So I decided to focus on his ability to 'blend in' by making him sort of an organic part of the archetecture. The figures in the image are actually an homage to the character, who for some reason was a protector of halflings as well as a skulker in the shadows." | |
| 7 Oct 2003 | Kelvin Michael Green | Excellent picture! The figure work isn't really my style, but there's a lovely archaic woodcut feel to the picture as a whole that I really appreciate. Good work! | |
| 4 Nov 2003 | daria(nickname) | Ilove it it's so detailed and dark if could draw like that iwould | |
