SciFi and Fantasy Art: Black Lotus

This is part of my ongoing attempt at diversifying my figures/poses and try to create more dynamic images. Even though she's standing still, I like the tension/readiness in her stance...and the flow in her ponytail might suggest she's only just hopped up onto the piling. I've sort of had an idea for this character for a while but never managed to capture her image until now. I'm very pleased with how her dress turned out - black with gold trim works really well and the swan/phoenix design really fits the asian theme I wanted for her. I'll also say that I clearly had Lei Fang (from Dead or Alive) in mind when I was first drawing this. The background turned out nicely too and I had some fun playing around with the lighting. Definitely my best results with cel shading. Gotta love those lacy stockings!
