SciFi and Fantasy Art: Hunter vs. Hunter

She knew it would be over soon...very soon. They were near the surface now and the great beast seemed hell bent on her destruction. The beast, it's head cocked and ready to strike, showed no sign off weakening. Her spears had only enraged the creature, though her second strike had just barely missed its target. She had only one weapon left, but she had saved the best for last. She narrowed her eyes and stared back at her adversary. She was ready to end it...and she knew she would win

Yes, this is a bit of a departure from my typical coloring method...I've been re-inventing my coloring technique a bit and as you can see I've done away with the hand drawn line art. This is actually only a small portion of the entire picture - please see the reduced size picture where you can really see the scale of the battle. In addition, I have a larger version of the full picture posted here.

I like the catgirl's weapon. That was fun and relatively easy to create. I designed it to look a bit like a marine critter with its mouth open (sort of like the weapon my Original Merkat is holding). Also, if you look closely you can see arcs of electricity between the two 'prongs'. Thx for commenting!

The eel is really looking very creepy. Imagine to meet such a beast while swimming in the water! But your beautiful cat-girl will beat her, I'm sure! You've created a marvellous artwork here Jeff! Thanks Anneke! I'm glad I came up with the idea and very pleased it turned out as well as it did. I may try to do some other similar pictures.

I love her weapon too!! Very, very neat design!! 0.0 I had fun creating it...and a bit easier than designing futuristic firearms - no moving parts. =) Thanks for the comment!

*LOL* holy $*@!

Your catgirl and my Nea'lais are kindred spirits, aren't they.

Great picture! Heh heh...yeah, it's a neat coincidence. I think my cat-girl's opponent is a bit bigger than your creation, but I supposed it's just because my kitty's got such a big appetite. =) Thanks for the comment!

Of your pics, I think this one is one of the best anatomically. I'm wondering about her stance though. She doesn't seem to be either swimming or preparing to use her weapon.

Yup, Cookie Monster's right - she appears to be standing on something invisible and the weapon's a wrong way round. But it's a great picture anyway and the eel is cool. I don't know why I have a thing about eels.
The colouring is great. How did you do it?

I hate it. I can't even begin to describe how much I don't like it! I mean, the sea creature isn't scary, it looks like a frikkin' slug, the girl's weapon looks like some sort of cheap 70's sci-fi spear, and is she floating, swimming, or what? Are they even in the water? I'm so confused.
